Buddhist Temple Berlin

In Berlin, a Buddhist temple is being rebuilt as a first building. The building is to be used both as a religious place and as a place for events and teaching. In the course of the development of the fire protection concept, special concerns had to be taken into account through special ceremonies and use-specific special design specifications and facilities.

Community School Berlin

A lack of rescue options was found on a building of a community school in Berlin. In the course of developing the fire protection concept, several options for obtaining structural rescue options were worked out as a preliminary draft. After analyzing the preliminary drafts, the design of a safety stairwell was selected and implemented.

Roof conversion Berlin

In Berlin, an attic was developed for residential purposes. For fire protection, an economically justifiable solution was found for the 2nd escape routes from the attic apartments, taking into account the needs of the fire brigade. Through the office community | bfl the fire protection was processed.

Addition of storeys and roof conversion Berlin-Friedrichshain

Two adjoining Berlin apartment buildings from the Wilhelminian period are each being extended by a further full storey and a converted attic storey. Eight new residential units are being created in Berlin's urban space on an attic area of the existing buildings that has been unused up to now, in the sense of inner-city redensification.

Primary School Berlin-Lankwitz

The energy refurbishment includes an optimisation of the existing gas condensing boiler in the area of heat supply and, in order to reduce heat losses and ensure thermal insulation in summer, measures on all essential external building components.

Roof conversion Berlin-Charlottenburg

This attic conversion of a typical Berlin apartment building from the Wilhelminian period was to create 3 spacious, bright flats, each with its own roof terrace or loggia. Furthermore, achieving a high energy standard in accordance with KfW guidelines was of great importance.

The city above the city

The penthouses extend over two floors and offer light-flooded living and working spaces that flow into one another. The new roof shape refers to the existing building edges of the surrounding area, which is characterised by Wilhelminian residential buildings. With incised terraces and generous dormers formed in the axis of the existing bay windows, a new roofscape is created that speaks a contemporary architectural language.

Gewerbe- und Mehrfamilienhaus Zossen

The property is located in Zossen in the Wünsdorf district, only a few hundred metres from the railway station. The town of Zossen in the district of Teltow-Fläming, south of Berlin, is well connected by both regional train and motorway.

Primary School Berlin-Spandau

The primary school from the 1960s will be rebuilt and extended in several construction phases over a period of approximately four years. Classrooms as well as administrative and ancillary rooms are affected by the renovation work. The one- to two-storey building with a partial basement encloses the rectangular playground on three sides and consists of the day care centre, primary school and gymnasium.

Common Room Berlin-Kreuzberg

In a section of the existing former stable building of the so-called Dragonerareal, a new Kiezraum was established. As accompanying measures, barrier-free access and barrier-free sanitary areas were created. For reasons of monument protection, structural interventions were only allowed to take place without impairing the historical substance. The planning for the new use took place in a cooperative process with the users of the neighbourhood space. At times, the implementation took place parallel to the use of the building.

Retirement Home Berlin-Wannsee

In the course of implementing the higher standards required for dormitories, the entire building was redesigned in terms of its functional structure and fire protection. The basis for this was also the economic possibilities for operating the facility. For this purpose, the building was given a new conceptual structure.

Conversion under monument protection, Berlin

The residential building, built in traditional solid construction, is part of a listed complex consisting of timber-framed buildings that were built and operated as a municipal workhouse in 1877-1879. The construction with brick masonry walls together with a cap ceiling above the basement and load-bearing wooden beams in the ceilings of the upper floors remains untouched for the project.

Living in historic old town, Treuenbrietzen

The small town of Treuenbrietzen in the district of Potsdam-Mittelmark is rural. As a member of the working group "Towns with Historic Town Centres" of the State of Brandenburg, the streets and houses in the redevelopment area "historic old town" are listed.

Facade renovation Hanover-Linden

This corner building, built in 1928 with a clinker brick façade on the street side and a rendered façade on the courtyard side, is a typical brick architecture in solid construction. With its cornices enclosing the windows, the perforated façade is horizontally structured and creates the optical impression of ribbon windows.

Container canteen Community School Berlin

A temporary alternative building for a canteen was erected for a community school in Berlin. For fire protection, additional individual solutions were taken into account in the area of neighbouring rights (fire walls) and accessibility. Another challenge was the very short-term and rapid planning and building construction, as use had to be brought about as quickly as possible.

Semi-detached house Berlin-Lichterfelde

The semi-detached house from 1938 in the Lichterfeld 'musicians' quarter' is protected as an ensemble. It is to be completely renovated and the attic converted. In addition, an extension to the existing building is planned, which will house a garage on the ground floor and a library on the first floor. The existing building will be respected in its form and appearance and will not be changed externally.

Low-energy house Berlin-Lichtenrade

In addition to the design, special attention was paid to energy aspects in this new building in Berlin, which achieves the KfW Efficiency House 55 standard. This considers the energy efficiency of a building in terms of primary energy demand and transmission heat loss and is funded by the Kreditanstalt für Wiederaufbau (KfW).

During the conversion of a flat in an old building in Berlin, a compact new floor plan of high spatial quality was to be created on the existing somewhat congested, cramped area. Instead of the existing kitchen with a passage to the bathroom, the owners wanted a larger open kitchen with a dining area. Two separate bathrooms were created, for parents and children.

Horseshoe Settlement Berlin-Britz

During the renovation of a residential building in the Hufeisensiedlung in Berlin Britz, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, special emphasis was placed on combining energy efficiency and monument protection. At the same time, the building was to meet today's requirements and fulfil the needs of its users. The colours of the architect Taut, which are considered groundbreaking, were left visible in the original.

The property is located in a village setting near Cottbus. The clients wanted a residential building in a modern architectural language that would open up generously into the garden. It was designed as a simple, square building with a green pent roof. A large wooden terrace adjoins the living space towards the garden.

Bruno Taut Housing Estate Berlin-Britz

During the refurbishment of a residential building in the Hufeisensiedlung in Berlin Britz, which is classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, special emphasis was placed on combining energy efficiency and monument protection. At the same time, the building was to meet today's requirements and fulfil the needs of its new users.

Gottlieb Daimler Secondary School Ludwigsfelde

In the context of conversion and extension measures of a school building complex built in 1978 in prefabricated construction, an energy consultation with subsequent detailed energy planning was to be carried out. After an intensive inventory, the entire thermal envelope was recalculated and concrete improvement measures were proposed.

The comprehensive renovation of the building envelope was carried out on this Berlin apartment building with 34 residential units in occupied condition. On the one hand, the owner wanted the façade to be visually upgraded in the style of the Wilhelminian style; on the other hand, the structural measures were to be energy-efficient and, as far as possible, eligible for subsidies.
